About
the Work
After nearly two decades as a San
Francisco-based freelance writer, commercial journalist, web
developer, business consultant and entrepreneur, in 2005 Lowell Bennett accepted an editorial consulting
contract with China's largest publishing house.
For five years, while fulfilling that
assignment and realizing a high level of success - officially representing the publisher around the nation, advising,
editing, reporting, conceiving
diplomatic-style writings and
speeches, chosen from more than 1,000 candidates to receive a
publishing house award for the first time in 50 years honoring a
foreigner - he maintained his longstanding international freelance business.
In the course of professional assignments
and personal travels, Bennett explored much of
China; recording in
image and reflecting in
writing
its many regions, provinces, cities, towns, villages, and remote
hinterlands.
Today he continues to earn a
living
advising,
editing,
writing,
handling collateral
web development projects and
shooting photos on behalf of publications, businesses and
nonprofit organizations worldwide.
A project set for 2012 publication, a book of photography and writings on the modern
and increasingly cosmopolitan metropolis of Beijing, is tentatively entitled:
BEIJING INTERNATIONAL
An Ancient Capital's Renaissance in the Age of Globalization
Advance excerpts are available for publication
subject to publishing house approval. The project's 240 images are
posted on a non-public, non-search-indexed web gallery and may be
viewed by request.
